Chicopee® showcases market leading products at Sirha 16
Chicopee, a leading brand of specialty cleaning materials, showcased a range of infection prevention solutions for the foodservice industry, including the multi award-winning Coffee Towel, Lavette Super, Microfibre Plus and J-Cloth 3000, at Sirha Budapest from 9th to 11th May 2016 at HUNGEXPO. The Chicopee team worked together with territory distributor Amsa Higienia, on Stand E35, Hall A, at the show.
Just under one third (32 per cent) of food contaminated with a foodborne illness is consumed in restaurants, cafés, bars, pubs or hotels. Cleanliness is therefore imperative in the foodservice sector.
Cotton cloths, often used for cleaning, are notoriously difficult to rinse and keep clean, in addition, they are also quick to develop odours. Many are also low in quality and weight, which results in an ineffective clean, time wasted and an increase in the possibility of foodborne illness outbreaks.
In addition, changes in eating and drinking habits and an increase in people with allergies, is leading to the need to implement stricter allergen controls. It’s essential for example, for the steam wand on professional coffee machines to be cleaned thoroughly after every use, not only to keep milk residue from burning and bacteria forming, but also to prevent cross contamination of different milks – soya and dairy.
To overcome these issues, Chicopee has developed a range of cleaning solutions with the foodservice sector in mind.
The Chicopee Coffee Towel, which was Highly Commended in the general products/equipment category of the New Café Product (non food) award at the Café Life Awards 2015, has been specifically designed to help baristas effectively clean the steam wand on professional coffee machines. Available in two distinctive colours, purple and orange, the Chicopee Coffee Towel provides reassurances to members of staff, as the colours make it easy to identify the correct cloth to use for the task in hand – orange for dairy products and purple for non-dairy, or vice versa.
The Chicopee Coffee Towel can be used on surface temperatures up to 250˚C for as long as 14 seconds when used damp and folded twice and meets ISO 12127 standards. It can also absorb up to nine times its own weight, making it easy to clean the steam wand after every use.
For cleaning more general foodservice areas Chicopee Microfibre Plus offers Food Contact Clearance and antibacterial properties. Removing 99.99% of bacteria, without the need for chemicals or additional sanitisers, it is a high-quality wipe, with superior cleaning capabilities and a hygienic performance, even after 365 washes at 90ºC.
Chicopee also showcased Lavette Super at Sirha, a heavy-duty kitchen cleaning cloth with Food Contact Clearance. The cloth has a unique open structure, ensuring superior dirt pick-up and efficient absorption. It is easy to rinse and dries quickly, remaining clean and fresh for longer. The cloth’s antibacterial properties also ensure it remains odour-free all day long.
James Taylor, director of product marketing at Chicopee said, “We really enjoyed exhibiting our range of market leading products at Sirha in Budapest. The Hungarian food and drink exhibition provided the perfect platform to showcase our foodservice solutions.”
Chicopee was also pleased to receive the 3rd prize for the Technology Category of the Innovative Product Competition at the exhibition. Chicopee was shortlisted for the highly efficient and effective J-Cloth 3000, the first cloth on the market to be tested as compostable and biodegradable, making it one of the most environmentally friendly products available.
